Poker Guide
As you become more accustomed to the world of poker play, you will find there is no better poker guide than experience itself. But if you are just starting out with poker, then you will agree that the best poker guide for you at this point is the one that lays out the game for you and tells you how to play the game.
Then as you move on up the line and get the basics of poker play under your belt using the poker guide, then you can go a step higher and practice and practice so you can move to the poker guide of experience.
But where do you start? Of course there is always the beginning, but is the beginning the learning of all the different poker hands and their value, or is the beginning the actual game of poker itself? Let's start with the game of poker itself and keep on going from there.
Okay, so we'll start with the game of poker itself, and now you need to make up your mind as to which type of poker game you want to learn....this will be your beginning poker guide. A good game type to begin with would be Texas Holdem, a popular form of poker with beginners, and once you have the mechanics of that under your belt, then you can move on to another game type.
So, let's give Texas Holdem a whirl and we'll consult our playing poker guide to see just how the game works. First things first. A dealer is chosen, and the dealer button that signifies that he is the dealer for all to see is placed on the table in front of him. Then the two players on the immediate left of the dealer, called the Big Blind and the Small Blind post their bets.
These bets are the lowest tier of the betting structure and half of the lowest tier of the betting. To clarify that a bit, if you consult your poker guide, you will find that if the betting were $2/$4...then the Big Blind would place a bet of $2 and the Small Blind would put down $1.
Once the betting is done, the dealer now deals two cards face down to each player at the table....these are each players' own cards and go by the name of the Hole cards. The betting goes around the table again with players doing their thing....raising, calling or folding.
Now the dealer deals three community cards face up on the table, and these three cards can be used by all the remaining players on the game to make the strongest five card hand that they can using the community cards and their own Hole cards. This is called the Flop.
Taking a look at your poker guide again will tell you that now the betting starts again going around the table with all players betting that are still in the game at this point, and after this betting round the dealer places another card face up on the table. This card is called the Turn. Betting goes around again, and a final card is placed face up on the table....this is the River. And betting goes again for the final time.
If you take a look a your poker guide now, you will see that after all the players have bet that are going to wager in the final round of betting, the player with the strongest five card hand utilizing all the cards out on the table and in the Hole, wins the pot. Now that wasn't so hard, was it? Any questions you have at this point can be answered by your poker guide and keep you moving onward and upward to the various levels of the game of poker.
